Apples by the dozen

Richard, who lives in our house in London, has just told me that he has picked a large bag of apples from the tree behind his office. He doesn't know if they are eating or cooking apples. So it may be that I will soon be after recipes for cooking apples. A few pies would do. And if they are eating apples, that will do nicely as well. It's amazing how many fruit trees are around yet the fruit is left to rot. Someone round the corner from our place in Ondon has a crab apple tree and the fruit is left to fall to the ground every year and rot away. This year however I am going to knock on their door and ask if I can pick them.
